Global Wind Organisation (GWO) is a non-profit industry body founded and owned by its members, who are among the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers, owners, and operators of renewable energy.
The organisation’s mission is to create an injury-free work environment in the wind industry by setting common international standards for safety training and workforce development.

Then the GWO – Basic Safety Training (BST) is for you. In this training, you will learn the fundamental principles of safety in the wind energy sector.
Participant requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Good physical and mental condition
- Valid WINDA ID (if you do not have one, you can register on the GWO website)

- installation, inspection, maintenance in indoor and outdoor environments of wind power plants
- workers at hight in the wind power industry

Content of training
Individual modules:
First Aid – FA
The First Aid course provides the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver first aid in the environment of wind turbines. The course, developed by GWO, is based on best standards and meets the requirements of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC). Duration: 7 hours (1 day).
Fire Awareness – FAW
The Fire Awareness course provides the necessary knowledge and skills required for prevention and understanding of the main causes that may lead to fire. It covers assessment and possible extinguishing of fire using available means, as well as evacuation in the wind turbine environment. Duration: 3.5 hours (½ day).
Working at Heights – WAH
The Working at Heights course provides the necessary knowledge and skills for using PPE when working at heights. You will learn principles for emergency situations such as evacuation or rescue from a wind turbine. Duration: 13.5 hours (2 days).
Manual Handling – MH
The Manual Handling course provides the necessary knowledge and skills to prevent musculoskeletal injuries when handling loads, whether manually or with technical equipment. Duration: 3.5 hours (½ day).
