International Technical Rope Rescue Training according to the ITRA Standard
An intensive professional training focused on rope rescue techniques in various environments from sloped terrain to free space. The course is designed for rescuers, firefighters, industrial climbers, mountain guides, and other professionals who need to master safe movement and load handling within rope systems.

Content of training
ITRA Technical Levels – Training Structure
Level 1 – Rope Rescue Technician
Focus on basic personal skills and teamwork on sloped terrain. Participants will learn:
- independent rope movement and self‑rescue
- basic knots and belaying
- handling a casualty in a stretcher on sloped surfaces
- simple extrication techniques
Level 2 – Rope Rescue Technician – Intermediate
Work in vertical environments and advanced techniques. Participants will learn:
- advanced rope rescue
- building and operating more complex rescue systems
- vertical stretcher transport
- more complex team procedures
Level 3 – Rope Rescue Technician – Advanced
Focus on complex rescue operations in horizontal, diagonal, and free‑space environments. Participants will learn:
- team leadership and incident planning
- complex systems and multiple redundancies
- horizontal and free‑space stretcher transport
managing dynamic situations and crisis management
Participant Requirements
- good physical condition
- comfort working at height
- ability to carry equipment and work in various environments (industrial, mountain, cave, tactical)
- ability to ascend and descend a rope independently
- ability to assist with transporting a standard load in a stretcher
medical fitness (any limitations must be reported to the instructor)
Entry Knowledge
- Level 1: no prior experience required
- Level 2: ITRA Level 1 or equivalent
- Level 3: ITRA Level 1 & 2 or equivalent
